It’s summer time and we all like to stay cool and yet save money. Listen to my friend Jeremy and me discuss six money-saving tips for keeping your home and yourself cool in the hot weather.

  1. Leave the refrigerator open
  2. Turn on the oven and leave it open
  3. Place ice cubes around the house—I rewrote my note on this one! You have to listen to understand why
  4. Upgrade CRTs and old TVs to flat-panels
  5. Install mist-makers or leave the showers running on cold water instead
  6. Buy a pool

Special thanks to those who hung out in the Ustream chatroom as we tried to broadcast live:

I’m gonna try the whole fan in the bathtub thing tomorrow. I’ll let you know how it works. ;-) LOL.

  2. Marti says:

Instead of turning the oven on to raise the temperature near your thermostat, try duct-taping a cat to the thermostat! Their body heat, combined with the friction of their escape efforts, will significantly raise the ambient temperature near the thermostat. :-)

Great chatting with you at TalkShoe last night. Best wishes for a great day!

  3. BRILLIANT!

Statistically speaking, if all the cats in the world were duct-taped to thermostats, the world would be a much better place. Though I guess the Chinese wouldn’t be eating as well.
